3 Reasons To Use Our Readiness Score

In the high-stakes world of competitive sports, staying ahead of the curve is not just a goal; it's a necessity.

Poor recovery, warm-up routines, nutrition, mechanics, and more can lead you down a path towards poor performance and injury. Injuries specifically cost athletes valuable playing and development time.

If you can avoid them, shouldn’t you try?

The athletes constantly seeking ways to enhance their training and recovery, and take ownership of their careers are the ones that are best set-up for short-term and long-term success.

Nobody’s going to save you (but you!).

With that being said, it doesn’t have to be hard! We have a tool that will help you…

Enter 4APP’s Readiness Score

In 4APP, every athlete is able to fill out our Daily Health Tracker (DHT). It allows you to subjectively score yourself in key areas we’ve determined are crucial to performance and recovery.

It is completely free and takes less than 60 seconds per day, and it’s a favorite among all of our MLB & MiLB clients.

After years of testing with our pro clients, we developed an algorithm that synthesizes all of that data into one score, your 4APP Readiness Score.

Your Readiness score is personalized to you based on your data from the DHT. It tells you how ready your body is to perform relative to other days you filled out the DHT.

There are countless ways to use this tool to play and recover better, in this article we’re going to highlight 3 of them and what signs to look for in your Readiness scores.

(By the way if you can’t recover, you can’t perform!)

1. Make Meaningful Changes to Your Routine

A frequent low Readiness score is a sign from your body to take a step back and evaluate…

Evaluate your preparation, recovery, and general habits. Something you’re doing isn't working and it’s in your health and performance’s best interest for you to make an adjustment.

Seeing your Readiness score over longer periods of time via our health charts allows you to identify this pattern, and then make the adjustments needed to help you perform.

On the contrary if your scores look great, you're doing something right! Keep it up!

2. Catch Injury Warning Signs Early

If you notice a downward trend in your Readiness score, it could mean that you’re headed towards an injury if you don’t make any changes.

Most injuries are the result of recovering poorly over a long period of time, becoming more fatigued and brittle along the way.

Our Readiness score (and the data you collect in the Daily Health Tracker) can illuminate the trend before you ever realize what’s going on.

After that, it’s on you to take ownership and do what you need to do to turn the trajectory around!

Being prepared and ready to take on your training is going to help you stay away from injuries and boost performance.

3. Hold Yourself Accountable

Most athletes don’t work as hard as they think they do. They don’t sleep as much as they think they do. And, they don’t recover as well as they think they do.

Usually, it’s not due to a lack of caring on the athlete’s part. It’s because they’re lacking the right environment or tools to breed discipline and accountability.

Our Readiness score is the accountability partner you’ve been looking for.

There are no excuses for neglecting sleep, nutrition, or recovery when you’re tracking these areas daily. You have to answer to yourself and clearly see how your choices impact your Readiness.

In short, accountability is one of the best traits an athlete can develop and our Readiness score will keep you on that path!

To sum it up…

Talent at the amateur and professional levels are at an all time high. That may seem daunting but you are only a few small, consistent decisions away from achieving your peak performance.

Our DHT and Readiness score are simple tools that you can use to maximize your daily performance and wellbeing, and make better training decisions.

There’s no one program, coach, or “hack” that’s going to do the work for you. Your success is going to come from you taking ownership of your career, showing up everyday, and controlling the controllables.
